Gerry and Julie's
Landsknecht and Costume Site

This page contains some of the research we've done for our German Landsknecht characters as well as some of the costumes Julie has done for Landsknechts and the SCA. Included are some other pictures of really nice Landsknecht costumes. Landsknechts were German mercenary soldiers of the 16th century. Their height of fame was between 1490 to about 1550.

Both of us have focused on Landsknecht Reenactment at Renaissance faires and in the SCA for about 12 years. Prior to that we had early period SCA persona's, and portrayed English street musicians at Rennaissance faires. Julie has been participating at faires and in the SCA since 1978. Gerry has been participating in the SCA since 1983 and at faires since 1985. Gerry goes by Herr Gunter Hirsch at Rennaissance faires and Sir Arion Hirsch von Schutzhundheim, KSCA at SCA events. Julie goes by Herren Juliana Hirsch von Schutzhundheim and is a member of the Order of the Laurel in the SCA.
